GLP-1 SUPPORT
GLP-1 SUPPORT
GLP-1 medications can make a meaningful difference to weight and metabolic health. They act partly on appetite pathways in the brain, helping you feel fuller and reducing hunger and cravings. Some also have cardiovascular benefits. For example, semaglutide has been shown to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in people with established cardiovascular disease who are living with obesity.
When your appetite is smaller, it can be harder to get enough protein, fibre and other nutrients. Nausea or constipation can also affect what feels manageable from day to day.
Whether you’re preparing to start treatment, already taking medication or considering stopping, I offer personalised nutrition support. Together, we’ll look at what you enjoy eating, how to meet your nutrient needs and how to support muscle and bone health in a way that fits your everyday life.

Initial Consulation
Your nutritional foundations
Whether you’re preparing to start or already taking medication, we’ll review your health, usual diet, appetite and goals. Together, we’ll develop a practical plan covering:
- Getting enough protein and nourishment with a smaller appetite.
- Fibre, fluids and food choices to support digestive comfort.
- Supporting muscle and bone health through nutrition.
- Identifying nutritional gaps and considering supplements where needed.
Consultation Two
Review and plan ahead
We’ll review how you’re getting on, address difficulties and adapt your plan. The timing can be tailored to support you during treatment or when you’re considering stopping.
If stopping is your priority, we’ll discuss the possible return of appetite and food cravings, realistic expectations around weight maintenance, and a manageable approach to meals.
Weight regain after stopping is common and reflects biology, not a lack of willpower. Some people benefit from longer-term treatment. My role is to support your nutrition and health alongside the decisions you make with your prescriber.
Medication choices, dose changes and stopping plans remain with your prescribing clinician.
What this programme addresses
Whether you're just starting, already on the medication, or thinking about stopping, there's a right time to get the nutritional support in place. The sooner, the better.
Supporting Your Health During Treatment
- Protein requirements to preserve muscle as weight drops
- Fibre to maintain microbiome diversity and gut motility, constipation, SIBO risk
- Micronutrient intake to avoid nutritional deficiencies
- Supplement stack specific to GLP-1 use
- Navigating spontaneous and social eating
- HRT and oral progesterone: when to ask your prescriber to review your HRT, especially as you start GLP-1 treatment or increase the dose, because slower stomach emptying may affect progesterone absorption.
